Vietnamese National Assembly President Begins 4-Day Visit to Cambodia

Phnom Penh, November 21, 2024 — On the afternoon of November 21, 2024, His Excellency Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, arrived in the Kingdom of Cambodia to commence an official four-day visit, extending from November 21 to 24, 2024. The visit is at the invitation of Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary.

Upon his arrival, President Man paid tribute to Cambodia's historical figures and landmarks. He laid a wreath at the Independence Monument and honored the legacy of His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk at the Independence Monument Garden. Additionally, he recognized the sacrifices of those who fought for their country by laying a wreath at the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument.

Following these poignant ceremonies, an official reception for the Vietnamese delegation took place at the National Assembly Palace, presided over by National Assembly President Khuon Sudary. The two leaders engaged in bilateral discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between their nations. They also co-chaired the inauguration ceremony of a new administrative building for the National Assembly, a gesture of goodwill from Vietnam.

As part of his itinerary, Chairman Man is scheduled to pay homage to His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni and will meet with key Cambodian officials, including Senate President Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet. Moreover, the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman will participate in the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, both hosted by Cambodia.

This visit underscores Vietnam and Cambodia's dedication to fostering their longstanding friendship and comprehensive cooperation. It aims to reinforce multilateral relations and strengthen parliamentary mechanisms through diplomacy, promoting peace and social stability in the region and beyond, particularly as Cambodia hosts significant international forums during this period.
